Muscatine Power and Water will break ground Thursday, Oct. 8, 3 p.m. on Muscatine Solar One, the utility’s first utility-scale solar array.
The planned 24-megawatt solar facility is part of MPW’s Strategic Plan and Power the Future initiative. The project is designed to diversify MPW’s electric energy portfolio while continuing to provide reliable and affordable service.
Muscatine Solar One will be built at MPW’s Grandview Avenue Wellfield and is expected to begin operating in 2027.
The groundbreaking ceremony is open to the public.
