Muscatine is in the Final Four, and now the community needs to rally behind the Musco Sports Center.
After starting with 16 projects from across Iowa and making it through two rounds of public voting, the Musco Sports Center has advanced to the semifinals of the Iowa League of Cities’ People’s All-Star Community Award.
Muscatine is now competing against Cascade’s Next Chapter library project. In the other semifinal, Bettendorf’s Landing Water Park & Ice Rink faces Toledo’s Iowa Juvenile Home Campus Transformation.
And there’s a simple way to help: Like the Musco Sports Center project photo in the semifinal album on the Iowa League of Cities Facebook page. Every Facebook “like” counts as a vote. Vote here.
Final Four voting ends Sept. 11, so Muscatine supporters have just a short time to make their voices heard. The two projects receiving the most likes in their respective matchups will advance to the finals, with final voting beginning Sept. 14. The winner will be announced during the Iowa League of Cities’ Annual Conference & Exhibit in September.
The Musco Sports Center is a 122,000-square-foot facility designed to give Muscatine year-round access to indoor athletic and community space. The largest inflatable sports facility in Iowa includes a full-size turf field for football, soccer, baseball and softball, pickleball and court areas, as well as flexible space for tournaments, expos, car shows, quilt shows and other large events.
Muscatine Parks & Recreation Director Nick Gow said the facility represents a major investment in the community and provides opportunities for local athletes, families and visitors.
