The Muscatine Police Department will host National Night Out 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Musco Sports Center.
The free, family-friendly event will bring residents, local law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders together for an evening of food, games, entertainment and community connections.
“This event is about coming together as a community,” said Lt. Ryan Buss, event organizer. “It’s a chance to connect, have fun, and build stronger relationships between neighbors and local law enforcement.”
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Muscatine police officers, firefighters and other first responders while enjoying activities both inside and outside the sports dome.
Highlights include:
- Police and fire vehicle displays
- MedForce helicopter, if available
- K9 demonstrations
- Free hot dogs and refreshments
- Kona Ice
- Bounce houses and games
- Face painting
- Petting zoo
- Character photo opportunities
National Night Out is a nationwide initiative focused on strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while promoting neighborhood camaraderie.
“Most of us entered law enforcement because we care about the people we serve,” Buss said. “National Night Out gives us the opportunity to connect with residents in a fun, stress-free setting.”
The Muscatine Police Department rotates the location of National Night Out each year to help make the event accessible to residents throughout the community.
Previous celebrations have included Taylor Park in 2023, the area near Mulberry and East 5th streets in 2024 and Weed Park in 2025, which included free swim time at the Muscatine Aquatic Center.
“We find little things to change or to add that make each year unique,” Buss said.
For the 2026 celebration, parking will be available in the Muscatine Soccer Complex lot, Kent Stein Park and a small section of the Musco Sports Center parking lot. Food, games and vendors will be located in the parking area directly in front of the Musco Sports Center.
No registration is required. Residents can simply show up and enjoy the evening.
National Night Out provides an opportunity for Muscatine residents to meet the people who serve their community, connect with neighbors and celebrate a stronger, safer Muscatine.
