A free will donation-based spay and neuter clinic has been extended through March 5, giving more pet owners the opportunity to access affordable services for their dogs and cats.
Thanks to a generous donation from Dr. Kelly Airey, an additional 40 to 50 surgeries will now be available from It Takes a Village Animal Rescue & Resources, 1510 Grandview Ave Suite 1, Muscatine. Organizers say the contribution is enough to sponsor an entire clinic session, helping more families get their pets fixed at a cost they can manage.
All surgeries include rabies and core vaccinations at no additional charge. In addition, while supplies last, standard vaccines have been upgraded. Dogs receiving DAPPv will receive DAPPv plus Leptospirosis protection, and cats receiving FVRCP will receive a combination vaccine that includes rabies, FVRCP and protection against Chlamydia felis, a common and highly contagious upper respiratory infection.

The vaccine upgrades are made possible through a generous grant from BI and Greater Good Charities, along with support from Petco Love, which provided the free DAPPv and FVRCP vaccines.
Additional giveaways are also available while supplies last. Kittens under 5.5 pounds will receive a free dose of NexGard Combo, thanks to a donation from Boehringer Ingelheim. Limited quantities of NexGard, NexGard Combo and NexGard Plus are also being provided at no cost to qualifying patients.
Pet owners can register their animals online at www.ittakesavillage.dog/spay-neuter. After registering, clinic schedulers will contact participants by text message to set up appointments. Organizers remind pet owners to double-check that their phone numbers are entered correctly to avoid delays.
Clinic officials expressed their appreciation to Dr. Airey and sponsoring partners for helping make the expanded clinic possible and for supporting local efforts to reduce pet overpopulation while keeping animals healthy and protected.
