Iowa Puts Complete Game Together In Win Over Ducks

The last two wins by Iowa were gritty and not pretty but behind Addie Deal’s best game as a Hawkeye and Hannah Stuelke’s best game of the season, Iowa looked  dominant as they outshot, outrebounded and out hustled an aggressive Oregon team who stayed close until the middle of the 3rd quarter and then made a run in the 4th only to lose to Iowa 74-66.

Stuelke was on fire from the field shooting seven of twelve from the field and added eight rebounds and eight assists but the real highlight was a career high 18 points for Addie Deal. She shot seven of nine from the field and was a perfect four for four on three pointers. She also added three rebounds and an assist. Her 18 points was the most by a Big Ten Freshman since Caitlin Clark in 2021.

Iowa ballooned the lead to 19 late in the 4th before the Ducks scored several garbage time buckets to make the score look closer than the game actually was. The Hawkeyes played their game and dictated the tempo and pace of the game. Stuelke has registered at least 10+ points and 5+ rebounds in 11 of Iowa’s last 13 games. Chit-Chat Wright added nine points, four rebounds, and two assists.

After a string of games that saw some inconsistency, Iowa put together one of its better performances in recent memory.

The game propelled the Hawkeyes to an outstanding 15-2 overall record, with a perfect 6-0 mark in Big Ten play, tying them with UCLA for the top spot in the standings.
