Niabi Zoo is adding a playful twist to its 2026 season opening with a daily egg hunt that offers visitors a unique prize.
Zoo officials in Coal Valley, announced that from April 21 through April 26, one genuine ostrich egg — emptied and disinfected — will be hidden each day somewhere on zoo grounds for guests to find and take home. In total, six eggs will be placed during the opening week festivities.
The eggs may be hidden in both outdoor areas and inside public buildings, but zoo officials emphasized they will not be located inside animal habitats or beyond fenced areas.
The promotion is designed to encourage guests to explore the zoo while celebrating the start of the season.
Visitors attending during opening week are encouraged to keep an eye out as they tour exhibits, with the chance to discover what organizers are calling an “eggcellent” souvenir.
