Muscatine Aquatic Center is preparing to welcome families back for another summer season, with opening day officially set for Saturday, May 23, at Weed Park in Muscatine.

City crews have completed the annual pool filling process and are now finishing water-quality balancing, inspections, and pre-season maintenance to prepare the facility for visitors.

The Aquatic Center will operate daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting.

The facility will temporarily close Sunday, May 24, during the 46th annual Melon City Criterium, which takes place throughout Weed Park. The pool will reopen Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, from noon to 8 p.m. for a full day of holiday recreation.

Parks and Recreation staff are also preparing seasonal splash features at Mississippi Mist and the Taylor Park Splash Pad. Officials say opening dates for both splash pads will be announced once final readiness checks are complete.

“Our team takes great pride in preparing this facility each year,” said Blake Allington, Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor. “From water-quality testing to safety checks, every detail matters. We want families to feel confident and excited when they walk through the gates on Opening Day.”

Allington added that the Aquatic Center remains one of Muscatine’s favorite summer traditions and said staff are excited to welcome residents back for another season of safe, family-friendly fun.
