UnityPoint Health – Trinity will host its first Career Exploration Day for area high school students interested in pursuing careers in health care.
The free event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in Jardine Auditorium at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, 2701 17th St.
Career Exploration Day will highlight several health care fields, including ultrasound sonography, respiratory therapy, surgical technology and phlebotomy. Each department will offer interactive stations where students rotate through small-group sessions.
Participants will connect directly with team members — including hiring managers — to learn about career paths, daily responsibilities, and required education and training. Hands-on activities will allow students to practice skills used in each role. The event will conclude with guided hospital tours.
Students will also have opportunities to meet with talent acquisition representatives from human resources to discuss future employment pathways.
“This event allows students to explore multiple health care careers in one day,” said Lauren VanNatta, career pathways navigator at UnityPoint Health – Trinity. “Hearing directly from our team members gives students a realistic view of what a career in health care looks like and helps spark interest in these essential roles.”
Demand for health care professionals continues to grow nationwide. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in health care occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations over the next decade.
“We want to remove uncertainty for students who may not yet understand the wide range of patient-facing and non-patient-facing roles in health care,” VanNatta said. “There is a strong need for skilled professionals, and this event helps students discover where their interests and strengths align.”
The event is open to high school students. Registration is required by June 1. To register, visit unitypoint.org.
