The storyline is that Iowa goes to the West Coast and loses. And for the most part thar has been true, especially last year. But tonight on a short week, the Hawkeyes were ready and showed it from the jump.
Kamari Moulton and Jeremy Hecklinksi led the way with over 400 combined yards and five touchdowns in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score of 41-24
Moulton rushed for 208 yards and two scores and hit the open hole all night for an Iowa ground game that has looked awful the last two weeks. They made up for it rushing for 263 yards while taking a large step forward. Hecklinkski made the most of his start throwing for three TD”s and 202 yards while leading the Iowa offense like he’s been starting all season.
Before Washington quarterback left the game before halftime with a rib injury, the Iowa defense had knocked him down consistently and never let the Huskie offense get into a rhythm. It wasn’t until backup QB Elijah Brown came into the game that the Washington offense showed any signs of life. Brown got rid of the ball quickly keeping the Iowa defense off guard for the rest of the game. Iowa ended up with six sacks and several key special teams plays on punts that sealed the win.
The Hawkeyes have a bye week next and then hit the road for a game at Minnesota on October 24th.
