Local children can get a fresh look and a boost of confidence before the new school year at the second annual Fresh Start Fest on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The event will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. at Crossroads, Inc. in Muscatine and will provide free haircuts for local children, along with hygiene products and other back-to-school essentials for families who need additional support.
Volunteer stylists will provide the haircuts, while families can receive items such as shampoo and conditioner, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, combs and brushes, feminine hygiene products, hand sanitizer, lotion, shaving supplies, and new children’s socks and underwear.
Organizers are accepting donations of new, unopened hygiene products and age-appropriate back-to-school supplies.
Monetary donations also are welcome and will be used to purchase items that are still needed.
