The City of Muscatine will temporarily close the downriver boat launch and adjacent parking lot near the Iowa Avenue entrance to Riverside Park on Monday, June 8, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the arrival and docking of the American Melody, a river cruise vessel operated by American Cruise Lines.
The American Melody is expected to arrive in Muscatine around 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. Passengers will disembark the following morning and spend time exploring Muscatine between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with departure scheduled at 1 p.m. Monday.
This visit marks one of several planned stops by American Cruise Lines during the 2026 Mississippi River cruise season, bringing new visitors to Muscatine’s riverfront, shops, attractions, and historic downtown.
While the downriver launch will be closed during the ship’s visit, the upriver boat launch will remain open to ensure continued access for boaters and anglers.
Residents are encouraged to help extend Muscatine’s well-known hospitality by welcoming cruise guests and showcasing the community’s charm, amenities, and riverfront experience.
