The Savannah Bananas’ first season of the Banana Ball Championship League will visit 75 stadiums and 45 states, with Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium landing two games of the club’s 2026 schedule.

For those unfamiliar with the Savannah Bananas, they are an improv-driven entertainment group that has their own version of baseball called Banana Ball, which includes on-field antics like choreographed dances, crazy rules, trick plays, fun props, and constant crowd interaction to keep fans engaged. In recent years, the Bananas have morphed into a viral sensation.

The University of Iowa, in partnership with the Iowa City Area Sports Commission, will host the Bananas at Kinnick Stadium on July 3-4, 2026, with both games starting at 7 p.m. CT.

“One of the most meaningful aspects of hosting this event at Kinnick is the proximity to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital,” said University of Iowa President Barbara Wilson. “The tradition of ‘The Wave’ — where 70,000 fans wave to the children watching from the hospital’s upper floors — is one of the most beloved moments in college sports. We are thrilled to incorporate this powerful gesture into the Bananas’ visit, creating a moment of joy and connection for patients and families who inspire us every day.”
