UnityPoint Health Creates Advisory Councils to Shape Patient Experience

SHARE NOW

UnityPoint Health has announced the launch of Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs), an additional way to bring the voices of
patients, families and caregivers directly into their care teams. These councils are designed to ensure healthcare experiences are shaped by compassion, respect and real-world feedback from those served.

PFACs make patients and families true partners in care, working alongside our teams to improve safety, enhance experiences and strengthen connections across UnityPoint’s hospitals and clinics. By listening, collaborating and acting on feedback, PFAC members help UnityPoint
Health fulfill its mission to improve the health and well-being of the people and communities they serve.

PFAC members will:
• Share feedback to improve patient safety and care delivery
• Provide input on communication with patients and families
• Help shape new patient-centered programs
• Support initiatives that enhance the patient and family experience

“Patients and families are at the heart of everything we do,” says Shawn Morrow, UnityPoint
Health Quad Cities/Muscatine President. “By creating these councils, we’re not only inviting
their voices into the room, but we’re also making them partners in the decisions that shape care.
Their perspectives are invaluable in helping us build a healthcare experience that is safe,
supportive and truly centered on the people we serve.”

The estimated time commitment to participate in PFACs is about one hour every other month.
