Orange Street will be closed to all traffic from East 5th Street to East 6th Street for one week starting on Monday, Nov. 10, according to the Department of Public Works. The closure is required to disconnect the sewer service at 515 Orange Street.
SulzCo LLC, who will be performing the work, informed the City of Muscatine that delays in obtaining the correct traffic control signage necessitated pushing back the start of work from the original November 3 date.
The contractor anticipates the block of Orange Street will be reopened to traffic by the end of the day on Friday, Nov. 14. The unoccupied structure was destroyed by fire on July 6, 2025, and will be demolished and the lot cleared in the near future.
Detours will be to use either Mulberry Avenue or Oak Street.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and follow all posted traffic control signs for the safety of workers, pedestrians, and drivers.
