Muscatine’s Musco Sports Center is down to the final two in the 2026 Iowa League of Cities People’s All-Star Community Award competition — and the winner will be decided by public votes on Facebook.
The Musco Sports Center is facing Toledo’s Iowa Juvenile Home Campus Transformation, which includes a new elite learning center for South Tama County Middle School.
The final round of voting began Sept. 14 and ends at noon Sept. 24. The project receiving the most Facebook “likes” will be named the 2026 People’s All-Star Community.

The winner will be announced during the Iowa League of Cities’ Annual Conference & Exhibit in September.
A Major Investment for Muscatine
The 122,000-square-foot Musco Sports Center was built to provide Muscatine with year-round indoor space for sports, recreation and large community events.
The facility is the largest inflatable sports facility in Iowa and includes:
- A full-size turf field for football, soccer, baseball and softball
- Pickleball and court-based activity areas
- Flexible space for tournaments, expos, car shows, quilt shows and other large events
For years, winter weather limited local sports seasons and training opportunities, often forcing families to travel for indoor facilities. The Musco Sports Center was designed to help keep those opportunities closer to home.
“The Musco Sports Center is more than a building — it’s a promise to our community, our families, and our future,” said Nick Gow, Muscatine Parks & Recreation director. “This facility gives our young athletes the opportunities they deserve, keeps activities local, and opens the door for new events and visitors.”
The City of Muscatine reps say the facility also strengthens the community’s sports infrastructure, supports economic activity and provides new opportunities for youth and families.
Now, Muscatine is asking residents, families, athletes and supporters to like the Musco Sports Center photo on Facebook before noon Sept. 24 and help determine the 2026 People’s All-Star Community.
