The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying three people involved in a reported scrap metal theft Sunday, Sept. 27 morning in Nichols, Iowa.
Deputies responded to a business just before 6 a.m. Sunday for a report of an in-progress theft. The suspects had already left the area before deputies arrived.
According to the sheriff’s office, three people were seen on the property. They were reportedly traveling in an early-2000s extended-cab pickup truck, believed to be a Chevy Silverado, with a toolbox in the bed. The truck was missing the lighter-colored lower molding on the passenger side of the cab and was pulling what appeared to be a homemade, single-axle utility trailer with wood sides.
Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about the theft is asked to submit a tip through the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office app or call 563-264-0188, ext. 4105. Callers and tipsters may remain anonymous.
