Drivers should plan for changes on Muscatine’s west side as a major construction project shifts into a new area.
Starting Monday, March 30, weather permitting, Logan Street will close to through traffic between Newell Street and Pinefield Street as work ramps up on Phase 6D of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project. Crews are moving operations out of the ravine near St. Mary’s Cemetery and into Logan Street.
Only local traffic will be allowed through the work zone, but access may be limited at times as construction progresses — including possible temporary blockages to residential driveways.
Parking will also be restricted on the south side of Pinefield Street from Logan to Devitt Street.
The closure and parking restrictions are expected to remain in place through the summer construction season. A posted detour will route drivers along Newell Street, Devitt Street and West Fulliam Avenue.
Meanwhile, work has resumed on Phase 6C of the project. Langman Construction crews are completing pavement restoration on Roscoe Avenue and Amy Drive. Roscoe Avenue is currently closed to through traffic between West 11th Street and West Fulliam Avenue, with that work expected to wrap up by the end of April.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes and follow all posted signage to keep workers, pedestrians and drivers safe.
