Iowa women’s basketball continued its hot start to the season with a 74-41 rout of Northern Iowa in their first road game of the season. The No. 23 ranked Hawkeyes were led by sophomore point guard Chit-Chat Wright, who finished with 19 points on 7-for-8 from the field, 3-for-3 from 3-point range, and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line in her 29 minutes of action. She added 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Freshman center Layla Hays finished second in scoring with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting and 2-for-3 from the free-throw line to go with her 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist in 20 minutes off the bench. Hannah Stuelke tied Hays for the team lead in rebounds with 7. Defensively, the Hawkeyes forced 18 UNI turnovers with 9 steals and four blocks.
Taylor Stremlow had four of those steals while Hays added two blocks. The Hawkeyes head to Orlando next to take on Baylor Thursday in the WBCA Showcase. They’ll also play Miami on Saturday while in Orlando.
