Women in the Muscatine area will have an opportunity to learn self-defense techniques at no fee, and connect with other local professionals at an upcoming BR.ID.GE. Mixer.
The event is a collaborative effort between the MWLN BR.ID.GE. (Mentor Network and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine County). Organizers say the goal is to combine practical self-defense training, along with an informal networking opportunity.
Lt. Greg Hazlett of the Muscatine Police Department will lead the hour long self-defense training at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The groups say mentorship is an important part of their shared mission and that the collaboration is intended to support initiatives that help women build connections and strengthen their personal and professional networks.
Following the training, attendees can socialize at The Creek: An Ardon Creek Lounge and Contrary Brewing, which will offer specials for participants.
