Due in part to her amazing play over the last month, Iowa women’s basketball sophomore center Ava Heiden has been added to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Tuesday.
Through 25 games played, Heiden averages 16.8 points on 63.6% shooting from the floor (5th nationally and 2nd in the Big Ten) and 7.3 rebounds per game. She also leads the Hawkeyes in blocks, averaging 1.1 per game.

The 6-foot-4 Sherwood, Oregon, native registered her sixth career double-double against Nebraska on Monday, Feb. 16, by netting a career-high-tying 27 points on 12-of-15 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line, alongside 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal. Iowa plays at Purdue tonight at 6pm.
