Looking for a seasonal job in 2026? Good news! The City of Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department has announced that it is offering a wide range of seasonal employment opportunities for 2026. These positions are ideal for students, individuals seeking temporary or flexible work, and those interested in giving back to the community through recreational programs and park services.

Seasonal employees play a vital role in supporting the City’s parks, facilities, and recreation programs that serve both residents and visitors. Opportunities are available at multiple locations, including the Municipal Golf Course, Muscatine Aquatic Center, Riverside Park Boat Harbor and Marina, Greenwood Cemetery, Kent Stein Park, the Soccer Complex, and within Parks Maintenance and Recreation programs.

Muscatine Aquatic Center – Weed Park

  • Aquatic Center Manager ($25.00/hr): Oversees daily operations of the Aquatic Center, including water chemistry testing, patron swim tests, and staff scheduling. Lifeguard certification required.
  • Assistant Aquatic Center Manager ($15.00/hr): Assists with facility operations, staff scheduling, and serves as acting manager when needed. Lifeguard certification required.
  • Swim Lessons Coordinator ($14.00/hr): Manages swim lesson programming, assigns instructors, and evaluates program effectiveness. Lifeguard certification required.
  • Lifeguard ($13.00/hr): Provides swimmer oversight and ensures patron safety. Lifeguard certification required.
  • Slide Attendant ($13.00/hr): Supervises patrons using water slides. CPR/AED certification required. Must be at least 14 years of age.
  • Cashier ($13.00/hr): Greets patrons, processes transactions, sells concessions, and answers phone inquiries.

Municipal Golf Course

  • Clubhouse Supervisor ($16.00/hr): Works in the pro shop assisting customers with tee times, equipment rentals, and purchases. Requires customer service skills, cash-handling ability, and basic golf knowledge.
  • Golf Course Outside Services ($13.00/hr): Collects driving range golf balls and assists patrons with outside service needs. Hours vary.
  • Golf Course Food and Beverage ($13.00/hr): Assists with food and beverage services for golfers. Hours vary.
  • Lead Groundskeeper ($16.00/hr): Performs mowing and grounds maintenance throughout the parks system. Must be able to safely operate equipment and obtain a pesticide applicator license in categories 3OT, 5, and 6. Some weekend hours are required.

Parks and Recreation Programs

  • Pickleball Instructor ($15.00/hr): Teaches pickleball indoors at the Musco Sports Center and outdoors during summer months. Morning and evening hours, approximately 10–15 hours per week.
  • Recreation Program Instructor ($15.00/hr): Leads youth sports and recreation programs. Applicants must enjoy working with children and pass a background check. Hours vary by program.
  • Program Aide ($12.00/hr): Assists with youth recreation programs. Applicants must enjoy working with children and pass a background check. Hours vary.

Parks Maintenance

  • Seasonal Groundskeeper ($14.00/hr): Assists with groundskeeping duties at various park locations using standard maintenance equipment.
  • Gas Dock Cashier ($13.00/hr): Operates fuel pumps, processes transactions, and performs pump-out services at the Muscatine Gas Dock.

Muscatine Soccer Complex

  • On-Site Soccer Supervisor ($13.00/hr): Oversees user groups, assists with facility needs, ensures rules are followed, and performs light maintenance duties. Evening availability and strong customer service skills required.
