Muscatine Announces Holiday Closures and Service Changes for Independence Day 2026

City of Muscatine offices and departments will close on Friday, July 3, 2026, for Independence Day. This covers City Hall, Public Works, and other city buildings. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 6.

Essential services like the Muscatine Police Department, Fire Department, and MUSCOM will keep staff on duty, but their administrative offices will close on July 3. Other departments will have on-call staff for emergencies.

Trash and yard waste will not be collected on Friday, July 3. If you live on a Friday route, put your trash out on Thursday, July 2, when crews will collect both Thursday and Friday routes together. Yard waste pickup will pause on both Thursday and Friday. Bulky waste collection will not happen on July 2 or 3.

Recycling collection for Route B will not change. If you are unsure of your recycling route, check your city schedule or website.

The Muscatine Transfer Station will close on Friday and Saturday, reopening Monday. The Compost Facility will open Friday but close Saturday. For questions, call 563-263-8689.

The Musco Sports Center will open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except for Saturday, July 4, when it will close for the holiday.
