As Independence Day weekend approaches, the City of Muscatine is excited to welcome residents and visitors to a full slate of recreational opportunities across the community. From July 3 through July 5, Muscatine’s parks, aquatic facilities, golf course, and sports complexes will be open and ready for families, friends, and neighbors to enjoy the holiday in style.

Whether you’re looking to cool off, play a round, or cheer on your favorite team, Muscatine has something for everyone this Fourth of July weekend.

The Muscatine Aquatic Center will be open for splashing fun throughout the holiday weekend. Residents planning to beat the summer heat should note the following holiday hours to plan their visit accordingly:

Date Day Hours of Operation
July 3, 2026 Friday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
July 4, 2026 Saturday (Independence Day) 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
July 5, 2026 Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Please note that the Aquatic Center will observe shortened hours on Independence Day itself, closing at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. The City encourages families to plan their visits early to make the most of this beloved community resource.

And if you want more watery fun, schedule a visit to the all-inclusive Splash Pad at Taylor Park or the Mississippi Mist, an interactive splash pad and fountain in Riverside Park. Both are open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, weather permitting. Parents are reminded that there is no facility supervision at either location, and they are responsible for supervising their children and/or the children in their care while at the facility.

All City of Muscatine parks will be open throughout the Independence Day weekend, providing ample green space for picnics, play, and patriotic celebration. Visitors are kindly reminded to follow all applicable safety protocols while enjoying public park spaces and to be mindful of fellow community members sharing these areas. The City looks forward to seeing Muscatine’s parks filled with the laughter and spirit of the holiday weekend.

Please remember that fireworks are prohibited on public property, including streets, sidewalks, parks, and public parking lots.

Kent Stein Park and the Muscatine Soccer Complex will be buzzing with activity this holiday weekend, with scheduled games and events drawing players and spectators alike. Both facilities make for excellent destinations for families looking to cheer on local athletes or simply soak in the energy of community sport. Whether you come to play or come to watch, these venues promise a lively and memorable Independence Day experience.

Golfers will be pleased to know that the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course will be open for play throughout the entire holiday weekend. Residents looking to secure a tee time are encouraged to call the course directly at 563-263-4735 to make their reservation in advance. The course offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy Muscatine’s beautiful summer landscape while spending quality time with family and friends over the holiday.

If the great outdoors is a little too warm for you, the Musco Sports Center on Houser Street offers a comfortable, air‑conditioned alternative with plenty to do. The facility features a wide range of amenities — from indoor courts for basketball and pickleball to walking and fitness areas that give residents a place to stay active without battling the summer heat. Families often stop in for open gym time, and the center regularly hosts youth activities, practices, and community recreation programs.

The Musco Sports Center is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, providing a full day of indoor options throughout the Independence Day weekend. However, please note that the facility will be closed all day on Saturday, July 4 in observance of the holiday.
