MUSCATINE, Iowa (Feb. 3, 2026) — Crossroads Inc. will begin hosting Advocacy Chats, free informational sessions open to the public that will highlight pending legislation at the Iowa state and federal levels and how proposed policy changes could affect individuals with disabilities, their families, and caregivers.
Advocacy Chats will be held twice each month, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, from 3:30–4:30 p.m. in the Crossroads large breakroom. There is no cost to attend. The topic for the first session will focus on proposed bills currently moving through the Iowa Legislature that could impact individuals with disabilities, including potential changes affecting services, supports, funding, and access. “Policy decisions made at the Capitol and in Washington often show up in very real ways for the people we support—how services are funded, what options are available, and how quickly families can get help,” said Marc Hines, CEO of Crossroads Inc. “Advocacy Chats are designed to make this information easier to understand, encourage respectful discussion, and help community members feel more confident about engaging in the process.”
These sessions are intended to be accessible and practical, offering attendees:
• A plain-language overview of legislation “in the pipeline”
• Discussion of potential real-world impact on people with disabilities and service
providers
• Guidance on constructive ways to follow bills and share perspectives with
policymakers
Advocacy Chats are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and attendees are
encouraged to arrive a few minutes early.
