The National Weather Service (NOAA) in the Quad Cities has issued a Red Flag Warning for critical fire danger for Muscatine and surrounding counties. The warning is in effect from 12 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.

The combination of strong northwest winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels will result in critical fire weather conditions through Friday afternoon.

If a fire were to start, it would likely spread quickly and be difficult to extinguish. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Winds are expected to be from the Northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph with relative humidity as low as 25 percent.
