Marilyn Phelps
1937-2026

Marilyn Phelps, 88, of Muscatine passed away on Tuesday, March 17 2026, at UnityPoint Health in Muscatine. Visitation for Marilyn will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Musserville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Overman Cemetery at a later date. Following the services a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Musserville United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the Musserville United Methodist Church in Marilyn's name. Marilyn Jane Burns was born on April 1, 1937, in Muscatine, the daughter of Sherman and Ethel (Graham) Burns. On February 13, 1955, Marilyn married the love of her life, Wesley Phelps, at the Musserville United Methodist Church in Muscatine. They were married for 55 years. Marilyn was an active member of the Musserville United Methodist Church and the United Women in Faith of Musserville. She and her husband owned Phelps Cleaning Service for 25 years. Marilyn was a wonderful seamstress and was very creative. She enjoyed crafts, including ceramics, upholstery, quilting, crocheting and making Christmas stockings, dolls and baby blankets for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed Country Western music and church hymns, and she was an avid Precious Moments collector. Marilyn could often be found watching her favorite shows, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children; Barbara (Don) Krueger of Blue Grass, Scott (Julie) Phelps, Steve (Lisa) Phelps, and Jim (Londa) Phelps, all of Muscatine; ten wonderful grandchildren, Sarah Stineman, Todd Krueger, Trisha Phelps, Kevyn Krueger, Clayton Phelps, Amy Hermiston, Shasta Phelps, Courtney Carlson, Derek Phelps and Shay Phelps; 12 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Delores Bashore of Morning Sun, Sherman Burns Jr. of Maquoketa and JoAnn Warner of Wabash, IN and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson and his wife, Todd and Kendra Krueger.
