Linda J. Messer, 78, of Nichols, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at home with her beloved family by her side. Inurnment will be at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 1:00 P.M.  Memorials in Linda’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Linda Jayne Deck was born on June 27, 1947 to Lester and Catherine (Tolander) Deck. She was a 1965 graduate of Waco High School. Linda married Jerry Messer on October 23, 1968 in White Oak, Iowa. She worked for Rockwell as an inspector for 27 years before she retired. Linda loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed making special scrapbooks. She was also an avid collector of Cherished Teddies.
Linda will be missed by her husband of 57 years, Jerry; children Robert Messer and Heather (Dixon) Bixby; grandchildren Ashleigh Messer, Ethan (Julianne) Messer, Chelsey Messer (Austin Gier), Brodie Messer, Mason Bixby, and Madison Bixby; great-grandchildren Joseph, Aleah, Sierra, and Kylee; and brothers Lester Deck and Harris Deck.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Catherine and sister Joy Schlatter.
