1960-2026
Julie Mae Wetzel passed away on October 31, 2026 after spending her final days surrounded by family and friends, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and a unique personality.
Visitation for Julie will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Home for Funeral & Cremation Services, Muscatine. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
Julie was one of a kind. She enjoyed the thrill of a good thrift store find, yard sale treasure hunting, and a little "after hours" shopping whenever the opportunity presented itself. She loved playing euchre, trying her luck at the casino, and never passed up an opportunity to speak her mind.
Beyond her spirited nature, Julie had a generous heart. She volunteered for years at Jessica Faye's Closet and enjoyed performing unexpected acts of kindness, such as giving Christmas presents to complete strangers.
Though she faced her share of hardships, Julie left a lasting impression on many. She was loved by more people than she may have realized, and the outpouring of support is a true testament to that.
She will be remembered for her generosity, humor, and unique spirit. The memories she created will carry on through those who loved her. Julie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Julie is survived by her children, Mary, Misty, Chelsea, and Scott Wetzel; grandchildren, Adrian, Alyssa, Xavier, Anthony, Degan, Kahne, Kylan, Jamison, Alexis, Izan, and Aryan; great-granddaughter, Lennyn; siblings Cindy, Ray, Angie, Todd, and Lindsey; and her bonus grandchildren, Kingston, Elias, and Avianna.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia and her dad, Benny Brockert; her father, Richard “Skinny” Wetzel and stepmother, Lerna; siblings Theresa, Denny, Craig, and Robert; brother-in-law, Mike; maternal grandparents, Linden and Hazel Hahn; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Louise Wetzel; nieces Angel and Kassie; and nephews Robert and Matt.
