Janet L. Kennedy, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. Interment will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery, Eldorado, Illinois on Thursday, September 24 at 2:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the Mulford Evangelical Free Church in Janet’s name.

Janet Louise McCallister was born on July 17, 1937, in Evansville, Indiana Illinois, the daughter of Charles Bernis and Helen Louise (Robertson) McCallister. Janet graduated from Eldorado High School and then furthered her education at Southern Illinois University eventually completing two different Master’s Degrees. On June 18, 1960, Janet was united in marriage to Harry McDonald Kennedy in Eldorado, Illinois. She was a very active member of the Mulford Evangelical Free Church. Janet cherished the arts; keeping many many plants and loved painting with watercolors. When not working on her own projects, Janet spent many hours volunteering at the Muscatine Art Center over the past 30 + years. Janet loved the time spent with her family and truly enjoyed the family gatherings.

Janet will be deeply missed by her children, Scott (Anna) Kennedy of Samonauk, Illinois, Ann Kennedy of Muscatine and Paige (James) Bales of Muscatine; grandchildren, Sophie (Peter), Tyler (Erin) and Cody (Shilo); great grandchildren, Oliver, Penelope, Evelyn, Henry and Archie; one sister, Barbara (Gary) Van Zandt of Eldorado, Illinois and one brother, Charles McCallister of Eldorado, Illinois.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harry in 2020.
