A recent Facebook scam has been brought to the attention of the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office.
Muscatine County Community Services was contacted Friday by an individual who stated a person reached out them on the social media platform claiming to be from community services. This person told the individual they were eligible for a block grant, but that in order to receive the funds they had to pay $1,200 for processing.
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office was alerted and quickly identified this as a scam.
As with any calls, text messages, instant messages, or emails, always validate the information you are being told. Do not just send money.
