Announced on Tuesday, the Muscatine Community School District was one of six districts across the state of Iowa chosen to receive a library box and up to 400 free books through the Little Free Library Project. The box will be on the grounds of Jefferson Elementary (403 E. 9th Street) since it is centrally located for our community youth.
The Muscatine Education Association, in association with the Iowa State Education Association, wrote a grant with the NEA Read Across America and the Little Free Library Project. Muscatine was selected Wednesday along with Cedar Falls, Columbus Junction, Marshalltown, Mason City and Storm Lake.
Muscatine High School’s Vocational Arts Department will assemble the box and the Jefferson Art Department will decorate and paint the box. The goal is to have it ready for use this spring!
