Individuals sought to strengthen City by serving on authorized boards and commissions

Whether it’s serving on a committee, volunteering for a local project, stepping up to support an organization, or simply lending a hand to a neighbor, the people of Muscatine continuously come together to strengthen and uplift their city.

The City of Muscatine deeply appreciates the countless residents who dedicate their time and energy to serving on various boards and commissions. Their efforts play a vital role in shaping city programs, policies, and services, ensuring that Muscatine continues to thrive as a vibrant and welcoming community.

 

The City of Muscatine is looking to fill positions on four of the boards and commissions authorized by the City including the Art Center Board of Directors, Public Art Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and the Zoning Board of Adjustments.

 

The City of Muscatine has 12 boards and commissions that support and advise City departments on different projects and different aspects regarding quality of life in Muscatine. Anyone interested in serving on one of these boards are asked to fill out the application form and submit the application by Sunday, April 30. Applications can be emailed to the City Clerk at [email protected] or submitted by regular mail addressed to Boards & Commissions, c/o City Clerk, Muscatine City Hall, 215 Sycamore, Muscatine, IA 52761. The City of Muscatine keeps applications on file in case vacancies occur. If you are interested and available in volunteering your time, please submit your application for a future term of office.

 

All applications are reviewed by the Nominating Committee to ensure applicants meet the qualifications to serve on a specific board or commission, and to ensure there are no potential conflicts of interests. Those that meet the requirements are submitted to the full Council for approval. The nominating committee includes the Mayor of Muscatine, two Council representatives, and the City Administrator or a representative from city staff.

 

The City of Muscatine welcomes all residents to submit their names and resumes for a specific board or commission or a general submission for any board or commission. Most boards or commissions require some knowledge of the subject matter and the responsibilities for the specific board of commission.
