Secretary Naig In Muscatine County On Monday – Buser’s Produce At Conesville

Good morning,

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will be participating in the annual Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade on Monday, June 9. Secretary Naig is planning to ride from Mt. Pleasant to Washington as part of part of “Group 2”.

Though he needs to stay on schedule with the group, he would have an opportunity to briefly chat with media in Mt. Pleasant immediately before the ride starts at Midwest Old Threshers, during the break in Germanville (Hope Lutheran Church), or at the Washington County Fairgrounds for the lunch stop.

He will depart Tractorcade from the Washington County Fairgrounds to visit Buser’s Produce in Muscatine County as part of his annual visits to every county. That entire visit is open to the media.

Following lunch at the Washington County Fairgrounds, Secretary Naig will be departing Tractorcade and making a visit to Buser’s Produce near Conesville in Muscatine County. That entire stop is also open to the media.

Buser’s Produce is a Choose Iowa member: https://www.chooseiowa.com/busers-produce. Jordan Lyon, Wholesale Manager and Part-Owner, is on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Specialty Crop Growers Association. Buser’s Produce grows and sells watermelon, cantaloupe, sweet corn and pumpkins. Secretary Naig will be touring their farm, hearing about their business, chatting about issues facing specialty crop growers, and discussing the Choose Iowa program. The entire visit is open to the media, and there should be an opportunity to chat briefly with Secretary Naig if that is of interest.
