Halloween thrills, family-friendly activities and support for local veterans are coming together at the HERO Haunted Trail at 5:30 pm on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17, 2564 305th St., Washington, Iowa.
Healing at English River Outfitters (HERO) is hosting the two-night event, inviting visitors of all ages to explore the property after dark and discover what might be lurking around the next corner.
Admission is $10 per person and includes a hot dog and chips. Children under 3 are $5. Proceeds support local veterans programs.
The event offers a mix of spooky surprises and activities for younger visitors. Children who prefer a less frightening experience can wear special bracelets to let volunteers know to tone down the scares.
Families can also visit the Witch’s Reading Corner for Halloween stories, enjoy s’mores by the fire and grab a bite to eat while taking in the Halloween atmosphere.
While the Haunted Trail promises plenty of scares for those who want them, the event also supports HERO’s mission to provide opportunities for veterans and their families to heal, reconnect and find strength together.
Organizers are also seeking volunteers to help with the trail, activities and guest assistance. Those interested in volunteering can sign up through SignUpGenius.
The HERO Haunted Trail takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17. All ages are welcome.
