Holiday Train Returns to Muscatine Nov. 24 With Live Music and Holiday Lights

The CPKC Holiday Train is rolling back into Muscatine this holiday season, bringing dazzling lights, live music and a chance to help local families in need.

The train is scheduled to arrive at Riverside Park at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24. International recording artists MAGIC! and Montana-born singer-songwriter MARIS will perform a free outdoor concert from 7:45 to 8:15 p.m.

Now in its 28th year, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train travels across North America each holiday season to raise money and collect food for local food banks. Since the program began in 1999, it has raised more than $28.3 million and collected more than 5.6 million pounds of food for communities across Canada and the United States.

The event combines holiday entertainment with an opportunity to make a difference close to home. Attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item or make a monetary donation. In Muscatine, all donations will benefit The Salvation Army, with every dollar and food item collected staying in the community.

“Our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train through hundreds of communities across our network to support people facing food insecurity,” said Keith Creel, CPKC president and CEO.

The brightly decorated train features 14 illuminated railcars. Once it safely stops, a stage built into one of the railcars opens for the concert. Performances are interspersed with a brief presentation highlighting the impact of donations to local food banks before the train continues to its next stop.

For many Muscatine residents, the Holiday Train has become a seasonal tradition, drawing families, friends and visitors downtown to enjoy the lights, music and community spirit.
