Muscatine’s official trick-or-treat hours will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, giving families time to enjoy Halloween festivities while following safety precautions.
Families can help keep Halloween safe by choosing costumes that are visible in the dark, using reflective tape or glow sticks, visiting homes with porch lights on and having parents or guardians accompany young children. Adults should also inspect treats before children eat them. Additional safety guidance is available from the American Academy of Pediatrics at HealthyChildren.org.
Motorists should use extra caution during the evening, watching for children crossing streets and walking between homes.
All Hallows Trunk or Treat Set for Oct. 24
Families can get an early start on Halloween festivities at the All Hallows Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Kent Stein Park. Hosted by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department, the event will feature dozens of decorated vehicles along the north side of Oneida Avenue.
Children can wear costumes and bring trick-or-treat bags to collect goodies. Parents, grandparents and caregivers are also welcome to dress up and join the fun. Parking will be available on the south side of Oneida Avenue within Kent Stein Park and at the nearby Muscatine Soccer Complex.
With the Trunk or Treat event ahead of Halloween night, Muscatine families will have two opportunities to enjoy seasonal activities while keeping safety in mind.
