Crossroads Inc. is getting a major boost toward expanding disability services in Muscatine, thanks to a $200,000 gift from the HNI Charitable Foundation.
The donation will support Crossroads’ new Day Habilitation facility at 2206 Lucas St., helping the organization serve more people with disabilities in Muscatine and Cedar counties.
Crossroads operates the only Day Habilitation programs in the two-county area. The new facility will allow the program to expand from approximately 30 participants to as many as 60, providing more room for individualized activities, daily living skills and social connections.
The accessible space is designed to accommodate people with a wider range of physical needs while promoting greater participation and independence.
The project is estimated to cost approximately $600,000, with Crossroads hoping to move into the new facility in November. A ribbon-cutting celebration will be planned with HNI and other community partners, with a date to be announced.
Crossroads CEO Marc Hines said the new environment will make a meaningful difference in the daily experiences of participants and their families.
The HNI Charitable Foundation also emphasized the importance of Day Habilitation services in supporting personal growth, independence and caregivers.
