A Flood Warning remains in effect for Muscatine, Louisa and Washington counties until 11:30 a.m. Friday as creeks continue to rise and flooding impacts roads and fields.
Emergency management officials reported several road closures, creeks overflowing their banks and widespread field flooding Thursday. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen, with another third of an inch to 1 inch possible before rain moves out early this evening.
Drivers should use extra caution, as many roads remain closed and low-water crossings may be underwater and impassable. Standing and slow-moving water is also expected in some areas.
Remember: Turn around, don’t drown. Never drive through flooded roads, even if the water doesn’t look deep. Most flood-related deaths happen in vehicles.
If you see flooding, report it to local emergency services or law enforcement when it is safe to do so.
