Michael Corey, 78, of Morning Sun, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Oakview Nursing Home in Burlington. A Celebration of Life for Michael will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Oakville Christian Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Morning Sun is caring for Michael’s arrangements.
Michael David Corey was born on February 8, 1948, in Burlington, the son of Dean and Eva Mae (Butcher) Corey. Michael graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1966 and went on to obtain his LPN degree from Burlington Junior College. Michael started his nursing career with the Morning Sun Manor before continuing his nursing work with Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Michael also taught nursing for Southeastern Community College in West Burlington. He was an accomplished musician playing the organ for various churches in the area and enjoyed antiques.
Michael is survived by his brother, Bruce Corey; nieces Audrey Eva Cook and Valerie Corey and great-nieces, Arabella and Layla Cook.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
