The 2026 Iowa State Fair gets underway tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 13, in Des Moines, but one of the fair’s highly anticipated grandstand performances will not go on as planned.
“We are deeply sorry for the change,” the Iowa State Fair said in announcing the cancellation.
Tickets purchased through the Iowa State Fair’s official ticket vendor, E-Tix, will be automatically refunded to the original method of payment. No action is required.
Rod Stewart’s scheduled Iowa State Fair concert has been canceled amid medical issues. Fair officials said they are currently searching for a replacement act.
Fans who purchased tickets through a third-party seller should contact that vendor directly for information about their refund.
Those who purchased tickets with cash at the Iowa State Fair Ticket Office should visit the ticket office to receive a refund.
The fair said it wishes Stewart a speedy recovery and supports his decision to prioritize his health.
The 2026 Iowa State Fair runs Aug. 13–23 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. This year’s theme, “Fair Spirit,” celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with patriotic programming, red, white and blue competitions, and new food and beverage contests.
