This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 243 and 277.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for southeastern and east central Iowa. A tornado watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure, such as a basement or small interior room. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in the Quad Cities. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Cruz Santos Leza Valver, 74, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at home, surrounded by his children, after a hard battle with lung cancer.

Cruz requested to be cremated but would still like family and friends to gather for a visitation and funeral Mass.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Rudy Juarez will officiate. Concelebrant will be The Reverend Chris Weber. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
