Lonnie Bixby, 64, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home. A Celebration of Life for Lonnie will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Columbus Junction American Legion. The family ask those attending to bring a dish to share if they would like. A memorial fund has been established for the family in memory of Lonnie. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction is caring for Lonnie’s family and arrangements.
Lonnie Bixby was born on December 29, 1961, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Lewis Glen Jr. and Wilma Jean (Reid) Bixby. On March 30, 1987, Lonnie was united in marriage to Shelby (Peppel) Bixby in Muscatine. During his life Lonnie worked jobs that allowed him to work with his hands. He did building maintenance for Tyson and many other businesses. For eight years Lonnie worked in the tire shop at Walmart until his retirement. Lonnie enjoyed all outdoors activities including, fishing, camping, and teaching his sons how to fix cars. Most of all Lonnie loved spending time with his friends and family.
Those left to honor his memory: his wife Shelby; children Samantha (Ryan) Olsen of Davenport, Joshua Bixby of Columbus Junction, Jamie (Claudia) Bixby of Ainsworth; seven grandchildren; brother Jerry (Alice) Bixby; many nieces and nephews; many online friends, and his companion Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Wilma; brothers, Daryl and Rodney.
