Jose “Joe” Valenzuela was born on May 10, 1961 in Carrizo Springs, Texas; the son of Filberto and Juanita (Ruiz) Valenzuela. Joe was united in marriage to Deborah Villarreal on August 30, 1980 at St. Mary’s in Muscatine. He attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Davenport for many years and St. Mary’s in Muscatine. Joe worked at Heinz for many years. He was a true motor head, if he wasn’t working on cars in his garage, he was watching races on T.V. or in person and going to car shows. Joe also enjoyed working with young adults who had special needs. He was a huge San Francisco 49ers fan and would watch every game that he could. If he wasn’t watching one of their games, he was listening to his favorite classic rock on the radio while he worked on cars. Most of all he loved his children and his grandchildren; he was a true jokester with them and loved to make people laugh. His laughter and happiness was contagious.
Those left to honor Joe’s memory are his wife of 45 years, Debbie; their children Elizabeth (Dustin) Rodriguez, Cynthia (Freddy) Sartiaguin, JoAnna Valenzuela, Marcelina (Osman A. Ponce) Valenzuela, and Joe (Jessica) Valenzuela; 14 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; siblings Enirqueta Cavazos, Juan Valenzuela, Ruben Valenzuela Sr., Gonzalzo Valenzuela, Jesse Valenzuela, Anita Valenzuela, and Alicia Ramos; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Filberto and Juanita and his brother Filberto “Nune” Valenzuela, Jr.
