1928-2026

Hester Amelia Larew, 98, of Lone Tree passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at the Lone Tree Care Center with her loving family by her side.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 4 – 7 PM at Synder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree.

Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Historical Society, Lone Tree First Responders, or the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree .  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Hester Amelia Mincer was born on March 13, 1928 in rural Riverside, Iowa to Frank and Amelia (Dvorak) Mincer. She graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Albert “Jim” Larew on November 14, 1953 at the Evangelical & Reformed Church of Lone Tree. Hester worked at Sorden & Adams Funeral Home as a bookkeeper for many years and later worked as a greeter. She was a 70+ year member of the Lone Tree American Legion Auxiliary, 60+ year member of the Fireman Auxiliary; a member of the committee that founded the Lone Tree Historical Society; active with the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America; served as chairman of the Red Cross for five years; and was a Buddy Reader at the Lone Tree Community Schools. Hester was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree and also enjoyed bowling. She never missed a school or sporting event for her children or grandchildren.

Those left to honor Hester’s memory are her children Deb (Kevin) Westfall of Lone Tree and Bill (Cathie) Larew of Lone Tree; grandchildren: Amber (Donny) McCullough and Seth Westfall; great- grandchildren Tyler, Madelyn, and Addison McCullough, Carter, Maddox, and Laine Westfall.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Amelia; husband Jim; and siblings: Frank Mincer, Nora Marie Mincer, Joseph Mincer, Wilma Wasson, Ethel Collins, Evelyn Britton, and Leona Wilkerson.
