Muscatine County Habitat for Humanity announced it is now accepting applications for a new home that will be built in Wilton.

The organization shared the announcement recently on social media, inviting individuals and families interested in homeownership to apply for the upcoming project.

According to the nonprofit, the new Habitat home will be constructed in Wilton, Iowa as part of its mission to provide affordable housing opportunities in the region.

Habitat for Humanity works with selected partner families through a model based on partnership rather than charity. Future homeowners typically contribute “sweat equity” by helping build their home and the homes of others while also completing homeownership education programs.

“We believe in partnership — not a handout,” the organization said in its announcement.

Applications are now open for those interested in being considered for the home. Eligibility typically includes demonstrating a need for housing, the ability to make affordable mortgage payments and a willingness to partner with the organization during the building process.

More information about eligibility requirements and the application process is available on the organization’s website.
