Diabetes continues to be a significant health concern, with more than 29 million Americans, or 12% of the population, diagnosed with diabetes, and an additional 115 million living with prediabetes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “We’re proud to offer programs that empower people to take control of their health through nutrition,” says Marli Apt, community engagement manager and Cooking with Heart instructor at
UnityPoint Health – Trinity. “Whether someone is looking to build a foundation for healthier eating or manage blood sugar through diabetes-friendly meals, participants gain confidence in the kitchen, learn practical skills and leave with habits that can make a real difference in their long-term health.”
