Crossroads, Inc. joined the Muscatine City Council last night as Mayor Brad Bark issued a proclamation recognizing the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Following the proclamation, Crossroads gave a brief presentation highlighting the organization’s Supported Employment program and inviting local employers to participate.

“We connect motivated job-seekers with disabilities to competitive, integrated jobs—and then we stick around to make sure everyone succeeds,” said Abbey Webb, Supported Employment Manager at Crossroads. “Employers aren’t left to figure it out alone; we stay engaged.”
“Let’s keep Muscatine a community where everyone who wants to work, can—and where every employer can tap the full talent of our city,” said Ken Brooks, Development Director at Crossroads.
How Supported Employment helps Muscatine employers:
- Targeted job match — we learn each candidate’s strengths and interests, then match them to real staffing needs.
- On-the-job training — a Crossroads job coach supports the new hire and supervisor, breaks tasks into teachable steps, and fades as independence grows.
- Ongoing support — Crossroads continues check-ins to assist with schedule changes, promotions, or new responsibilities, improving retention and reliability.
Businesses interested in dependable, well-supported hires—or a quick walk-through to identify job matches—are encouraged to contact Crossroads to schedule a conversation or workplace tour.
