“The need for behavioral health services is clear,” said Shawn Morrow, President of UnityPoint Health – Quad Cities/Muscatine. “We want people to know we’re here for them on both sides of the river. By expanding our reach, we can offer care to more individuals, when and where they need it most.”
Meeting a Growing Need
Over the past two years, Robert Young Center has seen a sharp increase in demand, now serving more than 22,000 people annually—45% of whom are Iowa residents. Between June and August alone, the center added 21 new provider slots, with more planned in the coming months.
“Mental health impacts every part of a person’s life—from their relationships to their work and overall well-being,” said Dennis Duke, President of Robert Young Center. “That’s why we’re committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that’s accessible and responsive to our community’s needs. For nearly 60 years, people across the Quad Cities and surrounding areas have trusted us during their most difficult moments.”
According to the 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment, mental health remains a top concern for Quad City residents. Nearly one-third of survey respondents rated their mental health as “fair” or “poor”—a rate significantly higher than the national average of 24.4%.
A Recognized Leader in Behavioral Health
Robert Young Center is proud to be one of only nine agencies in Iowa and 15 in Illinois selected to participate in the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) program. This national initiative aims to expand access to high-quality mental health and substance use services.
The center is also the only CCBHC in the Quad Cities and Muscatine region, underscoring its longstanding role as a trusted provider of behavioral health services.
