As winter slowly comes to a close and spring draws ever nearer, more and more high school seniors have started seriously thinking about what they will do after they graduate. For Wilton Junior-Senior High School senior Brock Hartley, his love of golf helped him decide where he will continue his educational and athletic career. On Wednesday, February 15th, along with his family and current and future coaches, Hartley officially signed his letter to play golf at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Nick Dohrmann, the head boys’ varsity golf coach and physical education and art teacher for Wilton Junior-Senior High School, stated that Hartley earned many achievements while playing golf for Wilton. A multi-sport athlete and varsity golfer for all four years, Hartley went to sectionals each year for golf. Additionally, Hartley helped the golf team qualify for state for the first time in 2017 and helped them earn their first ever state championship in 2018. With the spring boys golf season just around the corner, Dohrmann predicts Hartley will achieve even more. “I expect him to be a front runner again this year.”
According to Dohrmann, Hartley visited William Penn University this fall and felt impressed by everything it has to offer. With its high-quality golf program, excellent facilities, and strong coach, Hartley felt William Penn University would make a good fit for him and help him further his golf career. Dohrmann agreed with Hartley’s observations and believes he will grow into a truly remarkable golfer once he begins golfing at the collegiate level. Dohrmann elaborated, “once he gets into an atmosphere that’s one sport, he’ll really gel. From what I’ve seen, when all his skills come together, he’ll be a really solid golfer.”
As Hartley finishes his high school golf career and looks forward to beginning his college one, he joins the ranks of Wilton Junior-Senior High School athletes who have signed to play for a number of well-respected athletic programs this school year. In the months and years to follow, Hartley’s continued success in golf and school will highlight just how well Wilton Junior-Senior High School prepares its graduates for success after high school and will give his fans continuing opportunities to watch him shine.
