Collaborating with Over The Edge Global, the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GMCCI), Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine County, Special Olympics Muscatine, and participants will rappel off the Stanley Consultants’ Laurel Building to raise funds and awareness for their local causes.
Over The Edge, a special events company, provides signature events for non-profit organizations anywhere in North America and continues to expand globally. Business leaders, individuals, and community members raise donations in exchange for the experience of going over the edge of a local building.
Individuals must raise $1,000 in order to secure their rappelling position. Funds will support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine County (a group that pairs children & teens with a caring, adult mentor to help them avoid risky behaviors, focus on academics, and reach their potential), the GMCCI Chamber Ambassadors (who strive to advance our region’s economy, improve our quality of life, and enhance their members’ success), and Special Olympics Muscatine (which provides activities for over 150 individuals with intellectual disabilities, so they may make connections with people in their community and participate in a program of year-round sports and athletic competitions for children and adults). In 2018, over seventy individuals rappelled from the top of the Laurel Building. The event raised over $100,000. The Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Chamber Ambassadors, and Special Olympics invites the community to take part in the event once again, with hopes to exceed the previous year.
